Description
Summary:Packet X-Ray is a NTU Final Year Project which is also an industrial sponsored project (ISP) with Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT). Traditional data analysis requires the user to analyse packet-based data transmissions visually for network analysis. This area of work is becoming more challenging with advances in technology. Hence, a suite of intelligent data analysis algorithms to help cut down manual analysis work is highly desirable. The author has researched into communication protocols and analysed data files to identify features useful for detection of control information. He has also explored the use of statistics means to design effective and efficient algorithms in determining non-standard proprietary implementations of frame structure. Using the research results, the author then developed a protocol analysis tool, Packet X-Ray. The algorithms were tested on varied traffic types and fine-tuned to give the optimum performance.
