Description
Summary:These days, many companies are promoting green energy approach in their product design , thus many methods has been invented to harvest energy from the surrounding environment. One of the popular methods in integrated circuit design involves the use of the piezoelectric material to harvest energy from vibration sources. Hence, this report will present the design overview of the piezoelectric energy harvester circuit which can be used in micro-watt application. This report will look into passive and active rectifier which used in the piezoelectric energy harvester interface circuit. Furthermore, the design of the buck and boost converters operating in Pulse Frequency Modulation mode will be elaborated. The simulation result of the buck converter which steps down the input voltage of 4V to 1.803V can achieve a efficiency of 83.9% with a load current of 71.8μA. For the boost converter, it can step up from 1.2 V to 1.78 V and produce an efficiency of 61.0% with a load current of 11.8μA.
