Description
Summary:Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has received a lot of attention and much research has been put into WSNs to explore the many possible applications of WSNs. One such example is to make use of WSNs in forest fire monitoring and detection. The main goal of this project is to design and develop a robust localization technique for the WSN for this application. This localization technique will make use of hop-count data collected from sensor motes to estimate the location of the activated sensor mote. In this report, the author will discuss about the MATLAB programs that are developed to simulate and process results from the WSN in a more realistic environment. This includes simulating the WSN under 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional environments. The report will also discuss about experiments carried out to test the accuracy and feasibility of the localization algorithm of actual WSN implementations, where discussions and explanations were made for the results collected.
