Fuel cell technology is one of the key areas in which the international community is heavily investing in as alternative power sources due to the fact that it produces little or even zero by-product pollutant during the power generation process. The project itself focuses on developing a NI LabVIEW based control scheme which could effectively control the power generated from the 5kW PEM PhyX-5000 Fuel Cell System into a simulated Microgrid. The integration would allow Fuel Cell System to supply power into the Microgrid in time when the demand for electrical power exceeds what convention power generation source could supply. The power output from the Fuel Cell System would pass through a Power Condition System (DC-DC-AC Converter) before being supplied into the Microgrid.
