Summary: | This report is meant to be an explanation of the project and to allow the reader to understand in detail how the optimization of the cusum control chart is performed and
how it compares with the other control charts namely the control chart as well as the conventional cusum chart. The process of optimization includes procedures such as
varying the design parameters, and gradually building up the cusum control chart from the control chart, detailed step by step program built up is also explained in the content of the report. To understand the big picture, it will be crucial to understand the introduction of the control charts as well as the reason for performing the optimization which is covered in the introduction later in the report. The comparative study at the end
of the report will serve as a reference to compare the performance of all three control charts namely the control chart, conventional cusum control chart and the optimal
cusum control chart, and it is evident in all comparisons that the optimal cusum chart produces the best results in terms of losses as well as the average time to signal (ATS).
To get the complete picture of the program and the comparative study, the print out of both the comparative study and the program is attached at the back of the report referencing to Appendix A and B respectively. |
