Despite being significantly poorer in electrical properties, organic electronics can offers a wider spectrum of properties and functionality. Thus they are generating interests in applications of novel and different devices that could not have been made from traditional inorganic electronics.
This project attempts to synthesize and characterize a macrocyclic organic compound that may have properties reaching into electronics, optical and even magnetic domains. However, while the project is defined as synthesis and characterization, the product cannot be obtained via the planned synthesis route and thus no characterization can be done too.
Nonetheless, examining the current problems in synthesis will be able to provide insights, at least into what pathways are unlikely to work. |
