Summary: | Engineers increasingly utilise 3D CAD in developing and marketing design ideas but presentations are still carried out on 2D medium - 3D models do not end up “3D” after all. But developments in stereoscopic 3D displays now allow an alternate platform for improved visualisation and presentation. Studies conducted regarding the effective use of stereoscopic 3D in learning (Matsuura, 2011) and training (FrancoTecchiaa, Carrozzinoa, Rossia, Bergamascoa, Vescovib, & Pisub, 2006) returned positively welcome results. Students and engineers agreed that a real 3D representation provides enhanced clarity. |
