The study examined the relationship between problem solving skill, internal locus of control, high self esteem and involvement in serious behavioral problems, and goal setting. The study was conducted in a sample of 74 students who had frequently absent themselves from school, with a mean age of 15.35 (SD = .99). The study showed that good problem solving skill and having internal locus of control respectively are positively associated with goal setting behavior, while having high self esteem and being involved in serious behavioral problems were not associated with goal setting behavior. Future research is needed to examine the predictors that are related to academic goals.
