Among all these communication means, Bluetooth technology and Short Message Service are two of the most popular ways to exchange data in people’s daily life. How to protect privacy in an information age has become a heated issue nowadays. This project works on two independent Android applications to protect privacy. One is to increase the security level of Bluetooth transmission by adopting Data Encryption Standard and the other is to adopt Advanced Encryption Standard in SMS to secure personal information. DES and AES are two standards of cryptography. The Secured Transmission over Bluetooth application succeeds in establishing the connection between Android Bluetooth devices and providing the reliable transmission for image, txt and PDF files. DES adopted in this application effectively secures the personal data. And in Secured SMS application, AES provides the high level protection to secure the confidential information. This application works for various languages, English, Chinese and Japanese. Beside the SMS, this application also works in other powerful communication media such as E-mail and Twitter.
