Description
Summary:Electric Vehicles (EV) has long been known for its efficiency, coupled with the environment friendliness. However, the inconvenience caused by the lack of charging facilities has resulted underutilized on this product. The usage of Lithium-ion batteries will promote faster charging due to its high energy density and low internal resistance. Should the charging facilities be effectively available, it is believed that EV will be a very popular choice among the consumers. This report basically covers two main parts of the project, the EV charging station metering system and BMS. The metering system will allow the consumers and the operators to keep track of the charging status of the charging stations. The information it will provide includes frequency, active power, reactive power, current, voltage and power factor. All these data can then be logged and saved for future analysis and reference. The BMS, on the other hand, is a very important part of the EV. BMS allows users to monitor the battery status and provides a balancing circuit for the vehicle. Balancing circuit extends the battery life, shortens the needed time for charging, and lengthens the discharging time. This report will provide detailed explanations on the theory, functions and making of the BMS and metering system for readers to better understand the products.
