Electrodeposition of polyaniline coatings for corrosion prevention

Polyaniline (PANI) exhibits the possibility of replacing the hazardous Cr (VI)-containing coatings as an anti-corrosion primer. This project has investigated the direct electrodeposition of an electroactive PANI coating on stainless steel 304 (SS304), mild steel and aluminium alloy (AA1100) for ant...

This project has investigated the direct electrodeposition of an electroactive PANI coating on stainless steel 304 (SS304), mild steel and aluminium alloy (AA1100) for anti-corrosion applications using electrochemical methods, in particular, a novel wire beam electrode (WBE) method. This WBE based technique has been utilised successfully for the first time to map anodic polarisation currents (APC) during electrodeposition, and to map galvanic currents (GC) over a PANI coated surface, which was exposed to corrosion testing environments.
