Description
Summary:The purpose of this report is to examine the concepts of Institutional Theory and its applicability to multi-national corporations. In particular, the four provocations raised by Kostova, Roth & Dacin (2008) were studied in details using the case study approach on cross-border mergers and acquisitions of a French based organisation, Carrefour, in Dubai and Taiwan. To substantiate the possible divergence from the theoretical framework, references from past research conducted on Carrefour’s entrance into Japan and South Korea were drawn. The analysis outcome on the four provocations developed by Kostova et al. (2008) were further supported with a cross comparative study with another research paper conducted on Wal-Mart’s Acquisitions in Mexico and Brazil (2012). Finally, the report concludes with the managerial implications with regard to cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
