For this project, we first introduced the general trade conditions of Singapore and China so as to give the reader a general idea of the current trade situation and emphasis. This is followed by a discussion of the trade movements between the two countries for the period between 1985 and 1994. In doing so, we are trying to analyse the impact of the open door policy on the trade relations between Singapore and China. This is because in the recent years, especially in the 1990s, the Singapore government has placed great emphasis on the China market. Apart from this, in the later part of the research, we made a forecast of the future trends and trade focus. Other related issues such as foreign exchange and foreign direct investment are also brought out in Chapters Six.
