This project examines the changing export structure of Singapore over the period from 1975 to 1994. The shift of Singapore’s exports from low value added products to high value added ones can be mainly attributed to the concerted efforts of the Singapore government. We have examined the transition through three areas of study: (i) Export development policies and a qualitative analysis of the success of these policies; (ii) Statistical analysis using sequential Dickey-Fuller test; and (iii) Developments in regional export markets. Our project shows that Singapore has successfully transformed her exports from labour-intensive to capital-intensive products through the provision of various incentives.
