Description
Summary:The purpose of this research project is to determine the factors affecting the three facets of organizational commitment (namely affective, continuance and normative) of white collar workers in Singapore. The methodology of the researh was the administration of an attitude survey of white colla workers in three organizations. In the literature review, the model is derived from Allen and Meyer's three component of organizational commitment. Allen and Meyer viewed that different employees experienced varying degrees f all forms of commitment. They identified three distinct themes with the definition of commitment. Employees with a strong AC remain because they want to and those with strong CC remain because they need to, while thoe with strong NC stay because they ought to. Given its conceptual differences, it is reasonable to suggest that the antecedents of AC, CC and NC are different. We are interested in comparing and contrasting the degree of effect biographical and attitudinal variables have on the three facets of organizational commitment. Based on the proposed model, four sets of hypotheses are generated, five for job satisfication, six for AC, five for NC and CC.
