Summary:Through studying seventeen young adults’ usage of their smartphone in the wider context of their communication with their family, this paper attempts to study how the advancement of modern technology could affect the more traditional notions of the family. The basis of this study focuses on communication and the results of the interviews show that the time spent on communication might not have changed much but how these young adults use the technology might have changed the way they communicate with others around them.
