Summary: | The purpose of this research is to examine if the perceptions and realities of family leisure amongst young Singaporean/Singaporean Permanent Resident (PR) parents with children correspond to each other. The findings show that there is a mismatch between the ideals and realities of family leisure. Thee time rush due to work demands, and the competitive education system are perceived as constraints to family leisure. Differences were also found between perceptions and realities of family leisure in Singapore and Western counties. This study is one of the first to research on family leisure in Singapore and the findings have implications for parents, organisations and the government. |
