This study seeks to explain the concept of race and racism in Singapore, and how they have been created and maintained through the People Action Party’s ideologies namely multiracialism and meritocracy. It also studies the way the unintended results of these twin ideologies have affected both the Singapore citizenry as well as the state. However, instead of employing conventional methods of data collection such as face-to-face interview, this study makes use of cyber ethnography as social networking now forms a significant part of everyday life. Although a relatively new concept, cyber ethnography provides a new perspective in studying social phenomena that are present in everyday activities.
