It is designed to examine the issue from various angles such as the individual’s internal narratives, external conduct and opinions on the local transgender community. The focus on exploring their daily experiences is critical as it intersects issues of agency and structure with marginalized conditions of minority groups. By extrapolating data obtained through in-depth interviews, I argue that reflexivity requires other complementary factors such as acquisition of capital and social status to mitigate the tensions between individual autonomy and social structures. In light of the lack in sociological inquiry within this field, this qualitative research hopes to contribute insights on transsexual individuals that are rooted in sociological theories and academic rigor.
