Summary: | We have known for long the fact that our human eyes and ears have unique (or imperfect) characteristics in visual perception. It is also easy to understand the importance of modeling such characteristics in multimedia system design for performance improvement. However, there is lack of awareness of the possibilities and the benefits for perception-based manipulations to students and engineers. In this project, we aim at building an attractive demonstrating system to showcase various perceptual phenomena related to audio, speech, image, video and graphic processing, for educational purpose. Examples to be demonstrated include background adaptation, signal masking, visual attention, change blindness, memory, multimedia interaction, etc. |
