Description
Summary:As the structure or the floor map of the shopping mall is becoming more complex and complicated over time, there is a higher probability of people getting lost in the mall. In addition, most indoor localization application relies on some form of infrastructure such as Wi-Fi hotspots and the floor map. Hence, the aim of this project is to create an Android Indoor Localization Application without relying on infrastructure and floor maps. This would be implemented using the ambient magnetic field and the virtual map. This application relies on magnetic fingerprints and gyroscope data from human centric sensing to form the virtual map with magnetic fingerprints. Research was done to understand the theories behind of building an indoor localization application. In order to understand an indoor localization application, an existing one, Google Maps was studied and tested. Furthermore, Android Sensors were studied and implemented in the application. At the end of this project, the result was satisfactory since the application produces a virtual map with satisfactory localization accuracy.
