To analyse the effects of deracination on these diasporic communities, this paper uses Jade Snow Wong's Fifth Chinese Daughter, John Okada's No-no Boy and Chang-rae Lee's Native Speaker to identify and expound on the different ways in which Asian Americans struggle to understand, modify and retain their unique identities.
