With the ever-increasing range of high technology devices such as smart phones, tablets and cameras being released to the consumer market at huge qualities and at increasingly affordable prices, we have seemingly embraced technology as part of our lives. With each release and purchase of a new product, we change the way we behave in order to incorporate this new product into our everyday lives. The purchase of a new portable high-resolution camera might encourage one to bring out a camera more often and take more photos. The upgrade of a new smart phone might allow one to surf the Internet faster and encourage one to perform more online activities on his or her phone. I find it interesting that with the rapid advancement and changing of technology, we are rapidly advancing and changing along as well. I am especially interested in this topic because I feel that I was born into this fascinating digital age of rapid technology advancement where people of my generation grew along with it. We went from owning a basic mobile phone with the basic functions of calling and text messaging to a smart phone that has camera, music, video-watching, organizer, gaming, internet and many more customizable functions. My generation witnessed the birth and growth of high technology devices and grew up in an environment where we explored these rapid changes in technology together with our peers. Technology is a popular topic among us as we talk and discuss current technology trends and anticipate changes. We enjoy an easier time being up to date and catching up with it by sharing news and information with our peers. For example, I feel that I am constantly updated about technology without having to deliberately source for updates. A classmate could mention a new release of a phone in a casual conversation or share his or her discovery of a useful application that I can download to my phone too. We are excited about technology and I see people posting and sharing news about technology, such as the release of a new digital device, in social media that we frequent such as Facebook and Whatsapp. I witness my peers embracing technology easily and are avid users of it, and technology is very much ingrained as part of us.
