Description
Summary:A slender figure walks along the beach, she’s carefree and you could somehow feel a sense of liberation in her. She never turns around. Yang Jun wakes up from his doze by a phone call, only to know that his wife, Nuoyi has met with a terrible car accident. His mind runs wild in all possible scenarios his wife could possibly be in, then images of them moving into their current house flash in front of him. Those times were their sweetest, before he showed signs in losing interest in intimacy. As her conditions deteriorates with the passing of time, the flashbacks become more frequent and also more revealing of the root of their decaying marriage. Having to come to terms with his impotency, Yang Jun becomes insecure, guilty and paranoid. When an old watch that held memories of fonder days with his wife is replaced with a new one, he begins to suspect it as a gift from a mysterious man. Eventually his own suspicions culminate in a huge argument, and in a fit of anger, he smashes the old watch. It was the final straw for Nuoyi, she is tired and she cannot continue living the way she does now, she decides to leave. Back at the accident scene, Nuoyi hands Yang Jun the old watch; the glass face is glued back and it is finally working again. All his trivial fears seem small compared to the realization of how much he loves her and more importantly, how much she loves him and how she has always been there for him – if only he had seen it earlier. He embraces her for the final time, as her life slowly trickles away. Back on the beach, the same figure. A young toddler fumbles his way towards the lady. She finally turns around. It is Nuoyi. She looks refreshed and youthful again. She carries the toddler in her arms, and sways to the melody she’s humming. Yang looks from afar, contented.
