People with autism and their loved ones should not be subjected to discrimination, abuse and isolation. They too are equal citizens who should enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms. This final year project is a result of my interest in engaging human centered design to bring about social change to the autism community. Hence, a collaboration with St. Andrew’s Autism Centre was formed. The “Different, Not Less” Campaign targets tertiary students, in hope that there will be an increase in awareness and acceptance of individuals with autism. Understanding (through awareness and education) and accepting that individuals with autism are different but not lesser beings, gets people to reassess their own behaviors and preconceived perceptions towards individuals with autism. This project will help move Singapore towards a more inclusive society.
