Description
Summary:This is a project of 3D modeling and visualization using Kinect as the input interface, which allows the user to use gestures to construct and travel in a virtual city. The method demonstrated great potential for further application in HCI, Virtual Reality and Game Design. Traditional human machine interaction is highly relied on text interfae or GUIs (Graphic User Interface), which limit the majority of input to keyboard and mouse. Hand-free interaction with computer has great value for machine learning, intelligent system design and game development. In this project, we developed a 3D virtual environment based on Qt framework and Microsoft Kinect was used as the assembly tool. A set of intuitive body gestures was defined which allow the users build 3D virtual city, modify it and then navigate in it. The system can be easily adapted to other uses such as HCI research, Game design. The positive feedbacks from the users demosstrate that our approach is efficiency, robust and user-friendly.
