Leong Peng Chor School of Computer Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Computer science and engineering::Computer applications::Computers in other systems The Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common cause of dementia among the elderly. The disease is an irreversible and progressive brain disease that slowly destroys the memory and thinking abilities. Scientists do not yet have the answer to cure the Alzheimer’s disease but the research focus have shown that people who maintain active cognition will delay the symptoms of the disease. This project aims to provide a therapeutic game for severe patients that stimulate the player’s mental capabilities. Play Ball is an application that was developed on the robust Android application framework to be playable on any Android platform. It consists of two different games of varying difficulties and each will require the use of different cognitive capabilities. The game is segmented into two parts with different gameplays and level of difficulty that requires the player to exercise different aspects of cognitive abilities. Play Ball’s games have also been designed with intent of adopting the mentally stimulating benefits of playing games such as bingo and cards. The existing version has covered the fundamental objectives of the project. However, improvements and enhancements can be made to the game in order to bolster its patient or patient group oriented goal which is discussed in the report.
