Summary: | This report documents the work in progress of the comic project, The Watch, which consists of 44 pages and is carried out over last 3 semesters before graduation. The Watch is a solo project that involves the creation of the story from scratch, to the visual development and storyboarding, and finally to the final product, under the guidance of Associate Professor Hans Martin Rall.
Concept design and storyboarding are the two major factors in THE WATCH and the project underwent an animation preproduction process to its end product as a comic book. The medium, Comic, involves staging and illustrating scenes and characters to convey movement, space and time sequentially. It is an intensive process to ensure the clarity and readability of the story visually and seeking the perfect balance of visuals and storytelling, in both the pre-production and production stage.
Through THE WATCH, I aimed to explore the visual development, framing and layout design in the comic, and also to explore conventional visual storytelling language and colour that are found in both comic and animation. |
