Description
Summary:Recently Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) used in digital communication has become as one of the most significant technical breakthroughs in modern wireless communication. Nowadays using multiple antennas at both the transmitter and the receiver in a wireless system is well established. Preprocessing in MIMO broadcast channel enable a growth in transmission rate. This final year project titled - Performance studies on broadcast channel is mainly focused on the analysis of the preprocessing method used in downlink broadcast channel in MIMO system. The key point of preprocessing is to shift the signal processing duty from the receiver (mobile equipment) back to the transmitter (base station) where the computational resources and power are plentiful, thus make the mobile equipment as simple as possible and can extend the battery life as well. The performance study in broadcast channel was done by using Matlab simulation and measures the performance in terms of its Bit Error Rate (BER). Based on the results obtained from Matlab simulations, the preprocessing techniques are able to improve the BER performance under both Rician and Rayleigh fading channel.
