Summary: | With the openness design and ease of customizing, Android OS develops rapidly and comes to the leading position among the smartphone OSs. Such popularity has not only led to an increase in Android usage but also to the rise of Android malware.
Google has adopt many methods to create a bouncer to increase the security, and suggests consumers to download applications only from the official Android market, however, many users are still attracted by the variety of interest provided by the Third Party Market which may contain large amount of malware. Among these malware, the impact of botnets creates a new threat to Android OS.
Focusing on the rise on Android Botnet threat, this project is actually a research on how Android work with security mechanism and what characteristics the Android Botnet has. In addition, this project also proposes an Android Botnet Detection approach on a preliminary stage for further development.
With the research done in this project, the prototype is based on several characteristics of Android Botnet, to examine and detect the repackaged application which may contain botnet features in the Third Party Markets. |
