Description
Summary:This project is close study on tracking Global Positioning System (GPS) Satellite signals. It will be covering on the performance of the GPS card, OEMV-1. It will make use of the Novatel Software and the Rohde & Schwarz signal generator to simulate the GPS receiver card. The GPS card is bought off the shelf from Novatel and it was chosen to be implemented on the nano-satellite. The performance result is evaluated through the result of the tracking issue within the card. The report will also make use of Satellite Toolkit Software (STK) to compare the STK scenario and the earlier simulation which was run in Novatel Software. The comparison is on the duration of having more than 4 GPS satellites and less than 4 GPS satellites visible to the nano-satellite. Lastly, there will be a study and implementation of acquisition and tracking GPS signals through the usage of software, Matlab. The purpose of acquisition is to find the Coarse/Acquisition code phase and Doppler frequency of the GPS signal so that it can be used in the tracking. The tracking stage is comprise of 2 tracking loops, Phase Locked Loop and Delay Locked Loop which are used on the Doppler frequency and Coarse/Acquisition code phase respectively.
