| Summary: | Old wives’ tales are oral tradition passed down, often from our grandmothers or mothers, that are exaggerated and untrue facts told to scare children into good behaviour. This oral tradition has only been passed around verbally, from old wives to children, with little physical documentation. This project aims to explore the many entertaining experiences and imagination that result when one recall upon old wives’ tales through picture books. Interviews with individuals had been conducted to learn more about their respective experiences and imagination; these interviews were then translated into narratives and illustrations for picture books. Picture books served as a solution in the documentation of old wives’ tales which can be amusing and entertaining. The results of the project were 3 completed picture books that introduce 3 old wives’ tales respectively in narratives and illustration. |
