Summary:Experiments using one and three identical round turbulent jets were performed in still non-buoyant conditions. The single jet flow and triple-jet flow produced by two jets on either side of a central jet at a converging ratio of 45° have been characterised using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and flow imaging software. Normalisation of the flow and comparison of the tri-jet flows were accomplished with the measurements from the baseline of a single jet. Flow patterns within the jet flows were mapped out in detail, and the jet flows were characterised with regards to the self-similarity in velocity profiles and the velocity decay of the flow centreline. The findings in this study have been associated and compared with other studies done on fluid jet flows and the interaction of multiple jets.
