As Mobile devices become an essential necessity in our daily lifestyle, having a secured storage for our privacy data has been deemed to be very significant to the users. Mobile protection has thus become increasingly important in securing privacy data. In the event of stolen or lost phone, sensitive and confidential data will often be intruded and retrieved. Most of the times, stolen or lost phone has a very high possibility of being unrecoverable, due to the lack of technology to locate the device. Therefore, there is a need to have a mobile security application which features tracking down the location of the device, lock-down of mobile device, back-up user’s information to prevent lost of contacts and wipe-off content to prevent intrusion of confidential data. With these measures, users can better deter intrusion of data and unrecoverable phone issues. The purpose of this project is to develop an agent-based application that will be triggered by SMS service to track the location of the mobile device via GPS as well as to enable the ‘remote lock-down’ function of the device if misplaced. MobileSecure, a mobile security application has been successfully developed for Android OS platform. The application provides multiple functions such as lock, locate, wipe, backup, scream, power on notification, SIM card changed detection, acquire device details and take-a-peek to deter intrusion of data and unrecoverable phone issues remotely with the use of SMS command. Some recommendations are to provide SMS services in web console and implement functions, for instance, import backup contacts to further improve the application functionality.
