Mall operators could make use of this technology to track the behaviours of customers in a shopping mall. The client and server architecture could be implemented. In this case a web based platform was created to act as the client and the EasyPHP software as the server. For the design of the web portal, the database was created using the module “phpMyAdmin” which was in the EasyPHP bundle. The database consisted of various records made of different fields which were shop name, unit number, date, time and the number of customers. The database used in this project was “offline” based, this meant that the records in the database were fixed and not based on real-time. This was one limitation of the project which could be overcome in future when Extensible Mark up Language (XML) communication was to be implemented between the web portal and the server of the WPS. This would ensure the database to be updated in real time and could allow more features such as tracking customers individually to be implemented too. Mall operators would be able to perform a login to the web portal. Upon login, they could search for historical statistics based on their selected search inputs. They could view the filtered results in the web portal. Moreover, a link was provided to them to download the results into excel file instantly so as to provide mall operators with greater convenience. This allowed the portability of data which was advantageous to the mall operators when it comes to analyzing the statistics in order to come up with better strategies to improve the sales and operations of the shopping mall. Testing of the various features and functions of the web portal were carried out in order to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the features. After testing, most of the features implemented had the actual results being equivalent to the expected results and thus proven the correctness and accuracy.
