Summary: | The intricacy of a mould demands that the mould designer must be well trained and possess a sound engineering knowledge. Such highly trained and talented designer is hard to come by. Instead, the strategy adopted is to encapsulate this set of knowledge into a mould design software system. To an inexperience designer, this system could be used to guide him during the designing process. To a well-trained designer, this system could help him to breeze through some of the more tedious but monotonous design activities. A mould design software package was developed to fulfill this vision. As the tool will be marketed as a commercial product, quality is of utmost consideration. The object oriented methodology was adopted for development of this tool as it is deemed that this methodology is more discipline and stringent and consequently, the product will be more reliable and robust. The productivity tool consists of many modules and the cooling channel module is used to demonstrate the translation of the object-oriented methodology into real life project. A simple use case from the cooling channel module is used to illustrate this mapping. |
