Wong Yiik Diew School of Civil and Environmental Engineering DRNTU::Engineering The feasibility study of incorporating waste glass and Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA) into Porous Asphaltic (PA) mix was investigated in this project. The project was conducted in the context for light-duty applications like pedestrian and cycling paths. Incorporation of glass with RCA followed closely due to plausible results obtained from incorporation of only RCA in PA mix done by past researches. Three experimental mixes containing three different sets of constituents were evaluated. They consisted of only granite aggregates for Group 1, RCA with fine glass aggregates for Group 2 and RCA with coarse glass aggregates for Group 3. The three separate experimental mixes were also batched according to their respective optimum binder content obtained in the earlier course of project. A total of 36 small cylindrical specimens, six uncompacted specimens and three rectangular slabs were batched for performance tests. Performance tests like Permeability test, Marshall stability test, Moisture susceptibility test, Dynamic creep test, Aging test, Skid resistance test and Rutting resistance test were performed on the batched specimens. Group 1 was made the benchmark because it was batched with only granite aggregates to simulate Land Transport Authority’s standards of W3B mix. Satisfactory results of Group 2 were obtained for skid resistance and rutting resistance tests as based on the comparison against the control group, Group 1. Therefore, the incorporation of fine glass with RCA into PA mix is deemed feasible. The feasibility study of incorporating waste glass and Recycled Concrete Aggregates (RCA) into Porous Asphaltic (PA) mix was investigated in this project.
