Description
Summary:In this report, a feasibility study is conducted to evaluate the possibility of using the groundwater extracted from the reclaimed land of Jurong Island to serve as an additional water sources for industrial usage. Currently, PUB and Sembcorp are the sole providers for industrial grade water to the companies on Jurong Island. Test samples collected from pilot test well in the previous study are analysed and they are compared with different international drinking water and industrial usage standards in this report. The results are evaluated and several recommendations are made to source for the most cost effective treatment systems for the extracted groundwater to meet the quality requirements for different intended uses of this water. Necessary controls such as artificial recharge, irrigation, SUDS are recommended to prevent long-term adverse impacts such as saltwater intrusion. Two cost effective integrated groundwater supply systems are also mentioned for widespread application on Jurong Island.
