Description
Summary:Femtocell has become a popular and hot issue due to its ability to enhance the indoor signal strength and data speed, reduce the power consumption of the user equipment and generate profit for the operator. It also brings up the issue of interference and spectrum utilization. This report first gives a background information about femtocells. It then provides a literature review of related works and information to prepare the reader with sufficient knowledge. The raised technical challenges and prior-art methods of solving the problems of interference mitigation and spectrum utilization are then demonstrated and their advantages and disadvantages are also discussed. With the discovery of a neglected situation, a new scheme is proposed and simulated. Factors that are considered capable of affecting the result are also analyzed and simulated. Future works documents the aspects of the scheme that can be further researched and improved. A conclusion is drawn at the end of the report.
