The wildly used CCTV systems have increased the demand for automatic analysis of videos to prevent waste of manpower. Human detection is one of the most commonly used functions and automatic people counting can be wildly used in various situations. The paper points out some of the problems facing by the traditional and analyzes the reasons with some experiments. Then a new algorithm will be suggested and the paper is going to introduce how the new method can solve a number of those problems suffered by current methods and in what ways it enjoys higher accuracy.
