Description
Summary:The Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) is a technology to create a mobile network for vehicle communication. Since the bandwidth of a mobile unit is narrow, the attacker can take advantage of it. Thus, it is very important to handle the security issues in VANETs. Trust-Extended Authentication Mechanism (TEAM) is the standard mechanism for VANETs currently and it provides a mutual authentication between mistrustful vehicles and trustful vehicles. The object of this project is to find any vulnerability in the current TEAM model and create an enhanced authentication mechanism which is more efficient and effective. An enhanced security scheme is proposed by the author in this report. It overcomes the vulnerability of current mechanism that protects the system from the denial of service attack. The superiority of enhanced scheme is proved by simulations for both mechanisms under DoS attack.
