Summary: | This report will covers the concept and development of a RF Front-End designed for a software receiver and notably in the new civil signal, Global Positioning System (GPS) L5, under the EE4079 Final Year Project. The RF Front End is designed with a filter module and an I/Q demodulator to convert the received signal to a baseband signal.
Today, the GPS is widely used throughout the world and currently it is undergoing modernization to improve the accuracy and acquisition of the signal used for civilian usage. It includes the introduction of new civil signals and the launch of new satellites to increase the number of satellites in the constellations.
This report will introduce the GPS systems; illustrate the process of understanding the various components of a RF Front-End as well as the design of a receiver capable of receiving GPS L1 and GPS L5 signal and the difficulties encountered in the course
of the project. |
