Ever since the first man who altered his transaction bank account by altering a few computer codes, there has been a significant rise in the crime of technology. Today, with the popularity of smartphones, it is even more important that we understand the security protecting our messages. This project focuses on securely sending a multimedia message such as video, audio, picture etc. By using an algorithm to encrypt the file on the phone, we are able to prevent unintended personnel from reading or gaining access to the message once it is being intercepted. The algorithm used in this project is the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which is both cost effective and reliable standard to date. The focus of the operating system of the mobile phone is the Android Operating system that is currently the most popular operating system in the world. The basic idea is to program an Android application that encrypts multimedia messages and send them to a receiver where it can be decrypted. Firstly, the design layout of the application has to be implemented, and then knowledge on Multimedia Message System (MMS) needs to be studied on. After understanding the process of MMS in Android, the codes need to be implemented which is in Java language. After that, the message needs to be encrypted and decrypted within the same application so that the receiver is able to gain access to the file. However, I was unable to complete the project after doing extensive research, as I failed in implementing the MMS component of the project. The feature was too complicated, and due to limited resources, the project was not completed on time.
