Power supply circuit for white organic light emitting diodes

White Organic Light Emitting Diodes (WOLEDs) present the first real flat white light source, with extremely low thickness approximately limited to that of the glass substrate. WOLEDs present an alternative general lighting solution that is considerably more energy efficient than that of...

WOLEDs present an alternative general lighting solution that is considerably more energy efficient than that of common incandescent light bulbs, without the undesirable pure point source characteristic of the inorganic LED. WOLEDs emit light over a large area with good illumination uniformity, which results in a light source that is inherently glare-free and pleasant to the eyes. As the shape and emitting area can be designed, they can be adopted for a large variety of novel and general lighting applications. This project explores the foundations of power supplies and current sources to provide stable power to the WOLED. This stability is achieved by making the supply independent of fluctuations in input voltage and temperature, ensuring that there is no unnecessary change in brightness, while eliminating the possibility of permanent damage occurring to the WOLED.
