Summary: | One good solution to reduce the usage of fossil fuels and other greenhouse-gas emissions from vehicles that run on conventional fuels such as diesel, gasoline and propane is the implementation of Electric Vehicles (EVs). This initiative of green living society is increasingly gaining momentum all over the world. Governments are placing strong emphasis on the importance of the issue on sustainability, specifically in the transport industry as part of its global effort for economic growth and advanced energy technologies. However, despite the multi benefits that electric vehicles offer, it has not been well-received by end users. One possibility with regard to this dismaying statistics could be due to the lack of charging infrastructure support for EVs.
Globally, charging infrastructure is being launched near workplace, home and public area to provide convenience to such pool of users. By the end of 2017, a research has indicated that there will be around 7.7 million EV charging stations available in most part of the world. Anticipating this rising trend, the development of battery and charging technology will become an important support for the popularity of EVs.
To allow EVs to be popular among users, an electric vehicle charging system is being developed as a platform for EV users to interact. The platform offers a wide range of charging options for the users to select and allows them to monitor the charging status. In addition to its notification function to notify users when charging is completed, the system can also generate useful information for users like charging bill and usage pattern.
LabVIEW is chosen as the main design platform to develop a user-friendly Graphical User Interface in this project. |
