Summary: | In the recent years, new technologies based on active sensors have been applied for the measurement of the surface of the human body. Active millimeter wave penetrates dielectric materials, such as plastic or cloth, and are strongly rejected by metallic materials. In particular, by applying millimeter wave (35GHz - 94GHz) imaging technology onto the human body, it is possible to perform a whole body scan while the person remains fully clothed. These characteristics are favourable for security surveillance, especially for the detection of weapons concealed under people’s clothing and in baggage at the airport. |
