Description
Summary:The events industry has grown significantly over the past decades. Companies, organizations, schools, etc. organize many kinds of events of varying complexity, size and scale. In the process of event management, the event planner has to monitor the schedules of all these upcoming events. In addition, the event planner has to ensure that crucial factors such as the logistical and budgeting elements are met. The conventional approach adopted by event planners when sourcing for logistical elements is to call up or physically locate companies who can cater to these logistical needs, and most importantly, staying on budget. However, this approach is often time consuming and overwhelming as it requires a lot of effort if the planners do not have strong and dynamic relations with different suppliers. The project’s main goal is to design an Event Management Application which includes a resource advertising platform for users on the Android Mobile Operating System. With this app, users can simply place advertisements to look for resources as long as they have access to 3G or WIFI as a database server was setup to contain all these information. In addition, users are able to perform the basic monitoring functions as per other apps available on the Android Market. The app was developed through Java Programming on Eclipse IDE and is compatible with devices running at least OS2.3 as it is the more commonly used OS nowadays. This report serves to provide the background overview, planning and design phase, the implementation and testing phase of the Android app. In addition, the limitations, user evaluation and future recommendations will be discussed.
