Description
Summary:In the recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the development of the UAVs. For example, UAVs can replace real aircrafts for surveillance missions on large nature reserve forest, or performing Aerial photography, and also many other military operations. In order to explore on the potential of the capabilities of the UAVs and its systems, a practical experience in assembling an UAV is necessary as users will learn the fundamentals of its flight mechanics and how the system coordinates and operates. Building a UAV requires multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills as its system requires many applications of the technologies, physics and theory in order to function its capabilities as an UAV. With such foundation on understanding on UAV systems, it gives users insights to develop and match the suitable functions of the UAV to aid in solutions of real-world problems. This report seeks to provide guidance to beginners in the overview and fundamental knowledge on assembling and understanding how UAV operates, while at the same time, serve as a foundation platform to configure and develop it further such that it is operational ready for the advancement to automated flight and even formation flying. With such automated flight capabilities, it serves a wide variety of possibilities to applications for organizations such as the home team, where possibilities of police operations or patrolling surveillance can enhance crime vigilance, or as a SCDF’s reconnaissance advance party to survey the fire scene before they even set off or while travelling to the fire scene, or even border security where automated flights coordinating with coast guards in patrolling, for preventing illegal immigrants from crossing the border illegally.
