Instabilities in machining processes also shorten the life time of the cutting edges and machine tool. Therefore, the needs for condition monitoring systems are required to utilize information from several sources to facilitate the detection of tool failing during machining process. Also, to avoid additional complexity to the machining system the use of sensors and available parameters are considered. The focus in this thesis is to investigate the indirect, vibration transmitted force transmitted, and direct method, visual observation, during face milling process correlates with the cutting tool’s life. Additional experimentations were also done to enhance the reliability of the results obtained.
