Summary: | Passive radar is an emerging technology for tracking and detecting targets without a transmitter comparing to traditional active radar. Passive radar systems are generally smaller, more portable, less expensive, and do not require spectrum allocation.
In this final year project, satellite is chosen to be one of many illuminators for the passive radar system design. By investigating four different kinds of satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, AsiaSat 3S, CAKRAWARTA 1), GPS is selected for the candidate of passive radar receiver design. Theoretical power budget calculation is applied to determine the received signal power with the noise power; matched filter theory and ambiguity function are stated to analyze the processing gain and Doppler frequency processing simulation. The architecture of passive receiver system is designed and described with super heterodyne structure. The power budget simulation and moving target simulation are applied to check the feasibility for satellite based passive radar system. |
